Plain terms for a product most people will use without ever making an account or paying anything.
HCC Pinball Arcade is made and published by Holmes Computer Consultants — https://www.holmesconsultants.com.
You can play without an account, and doing so costs nothing and creates nothing. Scores and unfinished games are kept in your own browser, which means clearing your browser data clears them.
A Pro subscription unlocks the machines beyond the free one, publishing from the Machine Builder, and the features the pricing page lists. Prices are shown on the pricing page and at checkout, in your own currency.
Payment is taken by Stripe. Every screen that changes money — subscribing, cancelling, swapping monthly for annual, updating a card, downloading an invoice — is hosted by Stripe rather than rebuilt here, and is reached from the account page.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your Pro access continues until the date your account page shows, and no further payment is taken after you cancel.
A subscription bought through a headset store is billed by that store and is cancelled there.
A machine you build is yours. It is data rather than code, and it runs in a bounded evaluator with a fixed vocabulary of actions — which is what makes it safe to play somebody else’s machine.
Publishing a machine makes it playable by other people. A published version is immutable: correcting it means publishing a new version, because a score is validated against the exact machine it was played on.
A machine designed with an AI or through the Builder API is your machine, published under your name, subject to the same content rules and the same review, and you are responsible for it.
Write to us — https://www.holmesconsultants.com, or through the support page — and say what happened. An unexpected charge is a thing to fix rather than a thing to argue about.
